Aqualung Surelock System Explained
When BCD’s first had integrated weight pockets most manufacturers were simply using velcro systems to secure the pockets. At the time SeaQuest were making and developing some of the most innovative and best BCD’s on the market thin about the Seaquest Diva the first real ladies BCD and the Seaquest Pro QD probably the best BCD of its time.
Seaquest, therefore, developed the Surelock integrated weight system, with rigid “plastic” backs on the pocket making them easy to slide into the BCD and the best bit the Surelock system with a simple, firm push the diver located the weight pockets into the BCD and heard an audible “click” when they were engaged, however, to release the pockets in an emergency or hand them onto a dive boat a firm tug freed the Surelock pockets!
No more weight pockets slipping out or struggling to ensure the weight pocket was securely located, overnight Seaquest had solved the problem of integrated weights!
Aqualung then bought Seaquest and have continued with the Surelock system. We now have Surelock 2 which causes some confusion. THe main difference between the original system and Surelock 2 are the guide rails on the back of the weight pocket meaning the SUrelock 2 system locates even easier the the original system.
Because the Surelock clip hasnt changed both pockets are compatible with each other although the benefits of the Surelock 2 guide rails make it worth using the Surelock 2 pockets but Surelock 1 original pockets will still secure in the same way!
